LADIES!!! Why I Feel hiring a Makeup Artist is a MUST for HEADSHOTS!!

Okay, Ladies, I get this question ALL the time, and I'm here to tell you...it is such an important detail in nailing your FIRST IMPRESSION!

So you say, 'well, I don't wear makeup or very little,' or, 'I want to look natural,' or 'I don't want to look like glamour shots.'
I get ya. I don't wear makeup much anymore unless I'm going out!  Haha!!  ;)

But I'm here to tell you, headshots are up close and personal, and you will want to hire a professional makeup artist. I PROMISE!!  Yes, I retouch every image my client orders, but applying the correct makeup and colors are so important in making you look natural and approachable.

A professional headshot is just that - HEADSHOT!  And the three most important factors are:

1st) It's ALL ABOUT THE EYES! 

Everyone communicates with their eyes, even more than their lips, and a Professional Makeup Artist will make sure their eyes POP under the studio lights. My favorite detail is LASHES!!! I definitely feel false 'individual' lashes are best. The strip lashes tend, in my option, to distract from the beautiful color of the client's eyes.

2nd) LIPS - Moisture, Moisture, Moisture!! 

Is the key!  Chapped lips are the worst and only increases the cost of retouching ;) Professional make-up artists will give you pointers prior to your headshot session. One tip I always tell my clients (men and women) to exfoliate with a sugar scrub. 3rd) JAWLINE

We have ALL seen it...when your neck skin tone does not match your face/jawline!  This is so crazy how so many women get this wrong. This will NEVER happen with a Professional Makeup Artist.
