Hi, I’m Leanna.
I’m the photographer behind Leanna Slater Photography—serving seniors, athletes, and families across Elbert, Kiowa, Elizabeth, and Castle Rock.
Photography has always been part of who I am.
Back in high school, you could usually find me in the darkroom—long after class ended—until my art teacher finally had to kick me out.
There was just something about it I couldn’t walk away from.
That never really changed.
From Then to Now
I didn’t go straight into photography as a career.
I spent years in the corporate world in property and asset management. It was structured, fast-paced, and taught me a lot—but it never replaced what I really loved.
In 2011, I started photography on the side.
By 2017, I made the decision to go all in.
And I haven’t looked back.
What Matters to Me
I’ve always been drawn to people—their energy, their personality, the way they relax when they feel comfortable.
Most people come into a session thinking they’re awkward in photos.
They’re not.
They just haven’t had the right experience yet.
My job is to guide you, keep things easy, and create a space where you can actually be yourself.
That’s when the best images happen.

There’s something about confidence and that in-between stage of life that I connect with deeply.
Those sessions always feel a little more personal—and it shows in the final images.
Life Lately
Life doesn’t always go according to plan.
We’ve been navigating a season of change recently—figuring out what the next chapter looks like while staying grounded in what matters most.
What hasn’t changed is this:
I’m here. I’m shooting. And I’m all in for every client who trusts me with their moments.
Outside the Camera
When I’m not shooting, I’m usually with my family, exploring quieter parts of Colorado, or scouting new locations.
And if there’s a game on… I’m watching.
I’m a huge fan of the Denver Broncos—that’s non-negotiable.
The Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche are right behind them, and lately I’ve found myself getting into the Colorado Mammoth too.
Colorado sports just hit different.

To me, photography transcends mere clicks of a shutter button; it's about forging connections and letting people know they're truly seen and heard.
Leaving behind the corporate world was my pursuit of peace and genuine happiness, and I found it through photography. My aspiration is for every individual I encounter to recognize their unique significance in this world, regardless of scale. Each person I meet brings a story that I cherish, and drawing out their essence through my lens is where my passion thrives.
This is why senior portraits resonate with me deeply. They mark the beginning of a journey—some know precisely their path, while others are still navigating. Yet, it's the opportunity to listen to their aspirations and challenges during our sessions that fills me with immense satisfaction.
